This New England dental chair dates from the mid 1800s. It has been beautifully restored by master woodsmith Mark Auld of Kansas City and Bahama Upholstery of Ft. Myers. The burled walnut and mahogany was restored using the 18th and 19th century technique of French polishing. This process is lengthy and repetitive. The finish is obtained through a specific combination of rubbing motions, waiting a considerable time, building up layers of polish and then spiriting off any streaks. A high-quality chenille fabric in a similar style as the original was used. I was able to use the original springs and horsehair stuffing. On the seat I replaced the straw with foam. Pieces of the original and subsequent coverings, horsehair, and straw were saved and will be included. Addition photos available. Shipping will be arranged after the sale and will be the actual cost to ship. Personal delivery to the Southeastern states may be possible. Please contact me concerning shipment.
